A new museum space dedicated to the memory of the First World War is being opened in Malcesine. The museum will collect documents, photographs and reconstructions in multimedia form that narrate the history of the Alpine front and the lives of the soldiers. Malcesine can be discovered in several different languages: twelve locations in the town speak up thanks to audio guides available in Italian, English and German, with a Sign Language guide also available. Children are paid special attention, with an animated character to cheerfully accompany them past curiosities and wonders. The town of Malcesine is revealed through innovative digital mapping, all captured by drones in a fascinating 3D world. Twelve routes, ready to explore and download in GPX format for visitors and active types, allow you to discover hidden routes and connections to Trentino. The 360-degree images and fascinating videos enhance the experience, transforming each walk into a journey between nature and technology. The result: a harmony between landscape and innovation that will surprise and delight.
- INTERACTIVE SIGNAGE – THE TOWN SPEAKS
A new, interactive signage system now makes the historic centre of Malcesine more accessible and informative. QR codes and information panels tell the story of local points of interest in several languages, including Sign Language so as to ensure full inclusion as regards the text, audio and video content. The project aims to improve the visitor experience without any apps or additional tools. For the youngest visitors, the narrative voice of “Marmotta Bella” tells the story in a simple, entertaining way that is nevertheless as enchanting as a fairy tale.

Even from afar, Malcesine knows how to get close up: a virtual tour accompanies you through alleys, squares and fascinating corners that can be experienced both with the eyes and with the heart. The actions implemented have been accompanied by an integrated communication strategy aimed at enhancing the project and involving both residents and visitors. Graphic materials, online and social media content, as well as local promotional activities have all been produced. Communication has supported the visibility of the initiatives, strengthening the identity of Malcesine as an innovative destination.
- ACCOMPANYING MEASURES – STUDYING, RESEARCHING AND IMPLEMENTING THE PROJECT
All actions were preceded by a careful analysis and planning phase. Studying the area, gathering data, involvement of stakeholders and coordination between various bodies all permitted a coherent, sustainable realisation. The methodical and participatory approach ensured both quality and consistency with the needs of the locality and of its visitors.
